Collaps - Getting Used To The Dirt LP Review

Collaps are a German melodic street punk/oi! band formed in 2022. This here is their second album that came out in late April. Their first record, Executor came out in 2023 on Mendeku Diskak. Musically it falls close to fellow German punk band Oxymoron. Both bands play melodic, hard hitting punk anthems with some mean, rousing hooks. But Collaps throw in a pinch of Motorhead and a dash of Cocksparrer in the mix to make sure the roof of your house gets thoroughly blown off!   Getting Used To The Dirt by Collaps Getting Used To The Dirt houses 11 stellar street anthems about living in a world that is quickly being shrouded in darkness. The first song "Cokehead Politics" paints the picture of a society in chaos and our hypocritical leaders seem to either do nothing or turn their backs completely on their people, further driving the nails into the coffin of society. Some of the other songs like "You Don't Get Shit", "Grinding", and "I Think We're ...

Make Way For The Smoke Bombs!

The Smoke Bombs smash and grab fistfuls of British Street Punk in one hand and early 1980’s Southern California hardcore in the other. They then take it to an old abandoned warehouse downtown where they mix it up and add some secret ingredients. They then stuff some ping pong balls full of it and create a device that emits a dense, hard hitting brand of punk rock into the atmosphere immediately upon ignition. They hurl these handmade concoctions at unsuspecting audiences and it causes the foundation beneath the arid desert floors to quake. So remove any loose articles of clothing and strap your shoes on tight, The Smoke Bombs have arrived and the room you’re in is about to turn upside down! An interview with Druglords of The Avenues

I remember the first time I saw Swingin’ Utters in Mesa AZ (with AFI in tow!) back in the mid 90’s I was floored. I thought punk like what the Swingin Utters brought to the table, with that much melody, soul and ferocity was dead and gone. Vocalist Johnny “Peebucks” Bonnel has since been involved with a few other bands including Filthy Thieving Bastards and more recently Druglords of The Avenues which just released a new album (their 2nd full length) on Red Scare Records in May of 2013. Druglords play a brand of tuneful straight forward punk with heaps of charisma and passion that’s been a trade mark of a Peebucks band since the very beginning. This interview originally appeared in Audio Ammunition on  Interview by Jay Castro Shock Treatment: Please introduce yourself and how do you contribute to Druglords of the Avenues? I'm John Bonnel and I do vocals, lyrics and album art in the band. Where are you all from originally? JB: I'm from Santa Cruz, Ca., Matt Grayson is from M...

An Interview With The Glass Heroes

Keith Jackson has driven his band through many a storm. There was the whole Gin Blossoms uproar, The Grunge years, the Pop Punk phase, the Indie Rock uprising and so on, you get the picture. Through all of this the Glass Heroes have remained the Gibraltar Rock of punk in Phoenix, Arizona. They have stayed on course through 22 years of proudly rocking tried and true, smashing through the little kiddies and their fleeting fashions like a Rock ‘N’ Roll Juggernaut. Don’t let the “Glass” in their name fool you folks, these heroes are constructed of concrete, stone and gravel. This Interview originally appeared in Audio Ammunition on  Interview by Jay Castro Shock Treatment: Please introduce yourself (or selves) and how you contribute to the Glass Heroes pogo machine? This is Keith Jackson of the Glass Heroes! Nice ta meet ya. I’m the vocalist/guitarist for the band. Ad Adams=Drummer Steve Shelton= Guitar Stevie Davis= Bass ST: Where are you all from originally?
